A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.
Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.
She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life. Proverbs 31:10-12
Ray and I are attending Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University. If there is one area that we have wandered around in the desert it is in the area of our finances. God has been patient with us as we learn, grow, stumble, and seek. It was the second week of the group, Marriage and Money. We took away a lot together as a couple but today I continue to ponder the message given in Proverbs 31:10-12...especially verse 12:
She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.
As a wife, of noble character, we have the high calling to be his helpmate, to help him prosper, to help him lead, to help him follow God. Many times selfishness, ambition or agenda cause him harm. Perhaps an unkind word discouraged him or an attitude pushed him away from his affections. Expectations are placed on him that are unrealistic or simply unmet. Our actions and behaviors become a stumbling block. Maybe he is simply ignored when he needed an extra measure of attention.
We should desire then to be worth far more to him than rubies, that he can have full confidence in his wife, lacking nothing of value. To make it our business to do him good and not harm, all the days of our life. And what is the value in that? As we consider and endeavor to live and do him good, our character continues to be transformed to that which is noble and reflects the character of the One who promises to do us good and not to harm us...the One who gives us hope and a future for all the days of our life! (Jeremiah 29:11)
