His Helpmate

Right now there are over 1500 women signed up through the SHMILY prayer group...we've committed to pray for our husbands for 30 days. I love to pray for my guy but I must admit, somedays it seems like I'm praying the same rote prayer...please protect him, help him to find favor, change his heart....the focused prayer has really brought me back to a place of sensitivity to his needs. And how I can see the enemy just waiting to attack. Since I joined with the women on this venture, my husband has been out of town two-thirds of the time and is in a season of committed video projects. This morning I was a bit out of sorts and feeling a bit lonely; I chose to let him know about it. I could tell it hurt. He is so sensitive to my needs and tonight he offered to put aside his projects because he felt he had been neglecting me. He had even gotten off work a bit early so he could go to the grocery store and make dinner before I got home from work.

Now part of me wanted to jump on that offer and then the Spirit whispered to me...He has obligations that he needs to fulfill. Remember that you prayed that he would have integrity? That he would find favor amongst those he serves? Well, yes, yes I did. I looked up at him and told him go and work on his projects.

The truth is God made me to be his helper (Gen 2:18). I want to help him be successful. I can help bring blessing into his life by extending him the freedom to do the things God has called him to do. In the Lies Women Believe and the Truth That Sets Them Free, Nancy Leigh DeMoss states, "Blessing and joy are the fruit of seeking to be a giver rather than a taker and of looking for ways to bless, serve and minister to the needs of our families."

I can hear him working as he edits his videos and a surprising joy is in my heart. Guess I have a little extra time to blog!

Transforming,

Teri
